I appear to have been unmuted, but am struggling to find any enthusiasm for a site that has decided to embrace such nonsense. I’ve been on tumblr since 2010 or so (might have joined 2009, idk) and I’ve seen it go through a lot, but everyone who thinks that this is just like all the other times we thought tumblr might go under has their head in the sand. This is different.

I’m not looking forward to losing track of people, and will keep my own shit up and running for as long as possible, but I’ll be migrating. I’m not a dedicated enough blogger for wordpress, but I’ve just pitched a little tent over at dreamwidth as woolandcoffee and as soon as I’ve got a registration key, I’ll be setting up on pillowfort as woolandcoffee as well. Additionally, my insta is thewoolwitch and if we’re mutuals feel free to dm me for facebook deets.

Like I said, I’m not going anywhere for the moment, but the oomff feels to have gone out of the thing.

Oh ho what fresh hell is this?? Just went to my blogs home page and… maybe 50-60% of the posts I reblogged yesterday just aren’t there. Posts I reblogged this morning aren’t there. Posts I reblogged a few days ago aren’t there. Or they’re woefully out of order instead of chronological. On my own page. I have an exam this morning, but afterwards I’m straight up copy-pasting all my original content into a word doc before this whole thing goes tits up (couldn’t get wordpress to import properly and tbqh exams is not the time for me to be trying to figure it out).

hey friend! just wanted to give you a heads-up that that dick cheney movie is extremely critical of him and doesn’t at all portray him as a hero–the trailer is meant as a reflection of how he thought of himself, when actually he was a warmonger setting the u.s. on the path to democratic ruin (i.e. the 2016 election). so, definitely not a celebration of him! one less messed up thing in the world than we thought

Hey ‘nonny, thanks for the tip! I’ve seen the trailer and I have no doubt that the movie is supposed to be critical of him and a reflection of how he though of himself – in fact I pretty much figured that was the case. My concern is that plenty of people won’t see it that way, and it is still providing, as madamehearthwitch says, a lot of airtime to someone who doesn’t deserve it. I can understand wanting to preserve history so as to keep from repeating it, but glamorous Hollywood movies that will inevitably glorify an anti-hero (no matter how much that is not their intent) is not the way to do it. I also have no faith that the movie will honestly portray the truth, and suspect that it will also add to the trend of softening/normalizing George Bush. If we want to shine a light on the atrocities committed by the Bush administration, I’m not entirely sure that a Hollywood movie (no matter how well-intentioned) is the best to do it.

‘scuse me, but why are we making an action movie about Dick Cheney as though what he did to this country were some sort of wicked bad boy move instead of the actions of a heartless fascist slimeball for which he should be hung??

I guess the thing to do is to backup all my original content (of which admittedly, there’s not much), and then go and make camp elsewhere. I figured I would set up shop both on pillowfort and over at dreamwidth, then see which one becomes the next thing. I’m actually considering whether to keep the same handle (woolandcoffee) or if now is a good time to update to another username that I like better (altho tbqh I’ve been on the internet for over half my life and have never really connected with a handle so maybe I just suck at this and should stop trying).

If anyone wants, I’m on instagram as thewoolwitch but I don’t update it super frequently these days, and its pretty much just for my knitting.

Kind of sucks to have to do this for all manner of various reasons, and I have absolutely zero motivation to do all the shit that I need to do to safely get the stuff I want off this account. I’m studying for finals, I’m pretty much constantly stressed about not knowing what my life is going to look like a year from now, and this whole tumblr implosion is not helping my general mood.

ALRIGHT Y’ALL – after some mulling this morning (in lieu of studying for finals), I’ve decided I’m going to back up all my original content and then hightail it over to Pillowfort, because their demo is, quite frankly, bangin’. Idk exactly when I’ll be able to set up there (financial stuff and waiting for some money from my dad to hit my account because even $5 is not possible right now blah blah blah), but that’s where I’ll be. I’m also going to remain on tumblr and pretty much just take it one day at a time.

A question: for those wishing to find me (I don’t really have a lot of followers, but I assume one or two of you might want to locate me) would you prefer I keep the username woolandcoffee or is just linking to a new social media enough to suffice?

I s2g I don’t look at my dash for a half a day so I can study and this website tries to self-implode. If any of my followers are particularly worried, my ig is thewoolwitch, but fair warning that’s all of my knitting and none of my gaelpol or general complaining. If anyone has another suggestion for a social media platform that we’re all gonna jump ship to, let me know.
